Springbourne Homes chairman Adrian Burr is celebrating after scooping yet another prestigious prize and a second successive success for one of the stars of the company’s classic car collection.

The stunning 1939 Lagonda V12 Rapide Drophead has earned a Mention of Honour at the 2023 Concorso D’Eleganza at Villa D’Este on the banks of Lake Como, Italy.

It’s a hat-trick of successes for the Lagonda which was named ‘Best in Class’ at the Pebble Beach Concours D’Elegance in California in 2018 and received an Honourable Mention at the 2022 Salon Prive Concours D’Elegance at Blenheim Palace, Oxfordshire.

Adrian said: “It was a privilege to be invited to show the Lagonda at Villa D’Este, which is recognised as one of the most prestigious car shows in the world.

“There were some incredible cars there, some of them worth millions of pounds, so it was a tremendous achievement to drive away from Lake Como with a trophy.

“The Lagonda is a remarkable car and really shone at Villa D’Este and generated a lot of interest and conversation.

“It’s the jewel in the crown of the Springbourne Car Collection and, just like a Springbourne Home, it’s stylish, elegant, beautifully built and a pleasure to own.”

Adrian made the most of his trip to Italy and took another star of the Springbourne Car Collection, a one-of-a-kind Aston Martin boasting a bespoke design by Bertone, for a spin around the famous Ferrari test track at nearby Monza.

Adrian added: “It was a memorable experience and I managed to resist the temptation to try and keep up with the superfast racers out there by going  too fast and too wild .

“Jet 2 was based on an Aston Martin Rapide but was totally re-designed by Bertone into a unique 2 + 2 shooting brake. It’s a classic touring car rather than a racer but still handled like a dream and I must admit I did open up a bit on the straight and she flew along very nicely!”
