REMEMBRANCE DAY AT NATSOPA MEMORIAL

11th November 2022

A poignant Remembrance Day Service has taken place at the NATSOPA WWI Memorial in the Peace Garden at Hornsey Rise in Wellsborough.

Springbourne Homes’ chairman Adrian Burr led the service which was attended by residents from Hornsey Rise and teachers and children from the nearby Dixie Junior School.

Guest of honour was parish councillor Diana Whitley who delivered an emotional reading of the poem ‘The Fallen’ by Robert Laurence Binyon.

Springbourne Homes’ Customer Manager Jo Radnall read the Exhortation: “They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning – We will remember them.”

Wreaths were laid followed by a two minute silence in remembrance of the 380 members of the NATSOPA printers union, who died in the Great War between 1914-18, and all servicemen and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice defending our country in other conflicts.

Adrian then concluded the service with the Kohima Epitaph: “When you go home, tell them of us and say, For your tomorrow, we gave our today.”
