TV series Doc Martin, starring Martin Clunes, has filmed part of its Christmas Special at a Springbourne property in Cornwall.
Our redevelopment site in Port Isaac, or Portwenn as it’s known in the programme, was transformed into a seaside shop. The shop window showed off a surfboard, fishing nets, buckets and spades and a host of other beach items.
Springbourne Homes chairman Adrian Burr was in the village to watch the filming of scenes for the comedy series. He said: “Doc Martin’s locations manager Johnny Bamford asked us if they could use our site for the show.
“We were happy to agree and it was fun to see one of our properties feature in such a popular tv series.”
“It was a great experience. It was fascinating to watch Martin Clunes and the rest of the cast at work.
“You also realise how many people there are working behind the camera to capture all the action”
“We were also invited to visit the full Doc Martin set, which is in a huge barn nearby. It features the interiors of the doctor’s surgery and waiting room as well as his home.
“It was a real insight into how a TV programme is filmed and edited. The icing on the cake was meeting Martin Clunes himself. He was terrific and just as funny in real life as he is on the Telly!”
This is the last series of Doc Martin, which is a shame, but things move on. In the same way, we’ll be moving on with plans for the old Regent Garage in the centre of Port Isaac.
“We have big plans for the building. It would be great to deliver something special for the village – just like Doc Martin has over the years!”
